I have a MSI 512mb 4870 (R4870-T2D512), it has a Accelero Twin Turbo on it and it is just running too hot.

I remounted the heatsink a few times (and reapplied the TIM of course) with the same results.. The fan is plugged in using the 12v, and there is a 80mm fan blowing at the VRM's (using the accelero heatsinks).

Ambient temp is about 24c, case airflow is good, q6600 at 3.1ghz idles at 28c and is 45c load. My old 9600gt with a Accelero S2 would idle at about 35c and was 50c under load (no fan) with similar ambient temp.

I would assume that I need to start by replacing the VRM heatsinks, as they can't seem to cool the vrm's properly.

Any suggestions?

I was looking at these:

I know there are some resistors near the vrm's so the heatsinks can't be too wide, will have to measure to see exactly how wide they can be.

The original heatsinks are around 10mm tall, and they are pretty close to touching the main heatsink, so I don't think they can be any taller.

Here are some screenshots:

Idle

Load (furmark for 1.5min)

Any idea whats up with the GPU temps? The reviews for this heatsink get much, much lower temps.
