Martin Parr, 'Russia. Moscow. The Millionaire Fair
Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center', 2007
The English photographer Martin Parr has attracted international acclaim for his bright colour photographs of British high society and mass tourism. Through drastic formal and ironic condensation his images depict human behaviour in different societal contexts. The prize-winning photographer has developed a signature style, which makes his photos highly recognizable.
In this exhibition, the everyday chronicler will present not only a new series with images of art fairs, horse races and fashion shows, but he will also show his photographs within the context of his own personal collections of strange everyday objects decorated with photographs, postcards and works by important British and international photographers. A selection of his extraordinary collection of books on photography will also be in display in the exhibition, entitled 'Parrworld', making it something of a photographic 'wunderkammer', which will provide many entertaining surprises as well as offer a serious analysis of photography as a medium.
